Parish ‘Listening’  Event

Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly has asked all parishes to run  a ‘Listening’ Event. The aim is to invite all parishioners to discuss the pros and cons of present parish life, and to contribute to making plans for parish life in the coming years.

Church life “on the ground” is changing and we need to face the challenges coming our way.

Our Parish ‘Listening’ Event in Emly will take place in early May (3 or 4 weeks from now.)

Neighbouring parishes {the Deanery *} will hold their Events around the same time.

A meeting planning will take place on this Wednesday, 11th April, in St. Ailbe’s Parish Hall, at 8.00pm. Other parishes will attend too:

ten (10) from each parish. Please volunteer to represent Emly. Names to Fr. Bernie Moloney.

*What’s  a ‘Deanery’?

A ‘Deanery’ is a section of a diocese. The parishes work together on various projects. There are six deaneries in our archdiocese.   Our deanery is:

Ballylanders, Emly, Galbally/Lisvernane, Hospital/ Herbertstown, Kilteely/Dromkeen, Kilbehenny/ Anglesboro, Knocklong/ Glenbrohane, Knockainey/ Patrickswell, Pallasgreen/ Templebraden.

Emly  Community  Council

Following the unexpected death in January 2017 of the much-loved chairman of Emly Community Council, the late Rodney McManus, the council has lapsed somewhat.  However, it has been at the heart of parish affairs since its inception in 2010.

The present council members wish to revive this key community group.  All interested parishioners are invited to the A.G.M. on this Monday, 9th April, 8.30pm  in St. Ailbe’s Parish Hall.  Newcomers to the parish are especially welcome.
