GOSPEL  REFLECTION

The Transfiguration was one of those special spiritual experiences that are well nigh impossible to describe in words. Jesus had a new and deeper insight into his relationship with his heavenly Father, one that would sustain him through what lay ahead of him. Have there been moments when you have been more than usually aware of God’s love for you. How has this sustained you in difficult times?

EUCHARISTIC  CONGRESS

The 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 will take place in Dublin from 10th to 17th June 2012. This will be the biggest international event in Ireland in 2012 and one that will have a significant impact for Ireland and for the Irish Catholic Church.

 A very limited amount of tickets are available for the final Mass in Croke Park on Sun June 17th Emly parish has been allocated 6 tickets. Application forms for tickets are available this weekend.

Volunteers are now being recruited for a wide range of roles and if you would like to get involved please visit the Congress website  www.iec2012.ie/volunteer  and fill out an online application or request an application form from the Congress office on (01) 2349919 or volunteeradmin@iec2012.ie.

MANY  YOUNG  MEN  OF  TWENTY

The Emly Variety Player’s production of John B. Keane’s play ‘Many Young Men of Twenty’ will take place in Emly Parish Hall on Fri/Sat/Sun next (9th,10th 11th March) at 8.15pm. Adm: Adults €8; Children €5.

The Emly GAA Lotto last Tuesday was not won and this week is €3400.
Well done to the boys who played with Hospital Herbertstown soccer club in the underage final.

 

CLOTHES COLLECTION

Dochas Nasamu Orphanage – in Nairobi, Kenya, which is an Irish run and Irish built orphanage, are holding a used clothing appeal of ladies, gents and childrens – clothes, shoes, household linens  (towels, sheets, blankets, soft toys, handbags etc.)This appeal will take place on Wed 7th March, before 12 noon from outside Emly parish hall.

 

COOKERY  DEMONSTRATION

A cookery Demonstration in aid of Daffodil day will take place in  Knockcarron Community Hall on Thurs 22nd march.

 

COMMUNITY  COUNCIL

Emly Community Council propose to stage a ‘Know Your Parish 10K Run/Walk on 15th April to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to complete a specially chosen route along the boundaries of Emly. An entry fee of €10  will be charged on the day.  All proceeds to Emly Community Council.
