Prayer  for the  Dead

Envelopes, & Lists for the names of our loved ones who have died, are available at the church doors. Please place your envelope in the Offertory basket or hand it in at the sacristy.

 

If you have younger members of the family at home, it would be good to involve them in drawing up the family’s List of names.

 

7.30pm Mass on Friday evening  for the Holy Souls, especially for the deceased of the townlands of:

Ballynacree, Farranasa, Farran, Clashdrumsmith, Rodus, Gurteen, Chancellorsland, Chantersland.

ICON   Petitions

Petitions placed in the petitions box when you visited the Icon of the Holy Family have been sent (unopened) to the monasteries and convents of Contemplative religious, such as the Carmelites, Poor Clares, Cistercians, & Redemptoristines {who had a hand in the creation of the Icon}. Their special vocation is prayer; they will pray for your intentions

from now until the World Meeting of Families  2018

 

Blessed Terence Albert O’Brien

This coming Monday, 30th Oct., is the Memorial day of Blessed Terence Albert O’Brien, Catholic martyr and last Bishop of Emly. After the siege of Limerick in 1651, O’Brien – who had encouraged the citizens to resist – was captured as he tended the sick in the plague house. He was condemned to death and was hanged at Gallows Green in Limerick on 30th Oct

Cake Sale and Raffle for Homeless

Next Sunday 5th November in Byrne’s Tavern, after 11.00am Mass. Painting by local artist for raffle is on display in Callanan’s,  and tickets for sale. Any  baking for the cake sale  would be much appreciated

 

Emly  Historical  Society  Tour

Tour to Lismore/Youghal next Sat 4th Nov. Bus from churchyard at 8.00am – Lismore via The Vee.   Helena Nugent will give guided tour of the old monastic town.  Afternoon, guided tour by Helena of historic Youghal  -it’s much more than a seaside resort! – visit  the Clock Tower & see traces of the town’s military & economic importance. A 4-course meal in the Walter Raleigh Hotel before returning home – back around 8.00pm  Total price €50. Book   now (€20 deposit) : Jonas Callanan.  €30 on the day.
