What’s in a Name?
Parents give thought to the name they will give their baby : “If it’s a girl, then…..”, “If it’s a boy, then…” The chosen name becomes part and parcel of the identity of their child, for ever!
All through life until death s/he will be known by the name they choose (or by a version of it). Even beyond death, s/he will carry that same name: it’ll be on the headstone, for centuries.
The name parents chose is the name by which God will know their child, to eternity.
Their neighbours wanted a say in the naming of a new-born baby but Elizabeth and Zechariah held firm to the name the angel had given: “His name is John” – a name that means “God is gracious.” This was a message John preached.

Hand-in-hand with it will be an Exhibition in memor and honour of Canon Maurice Power, who erected the church. If you have any items associated with him, please let Fr. Moloney know during this week.
