A Bit of Comfort

If you’d like to spend some time in prayer in the

church during the chilly days of winter, there is an electric heater at the front of the left-hand aisle. Switch it ON yourself when you arrive; switch it OFF when leaving.

Mission  Sunday

This weekend marks Mission Sunday. It’s the one Sunday in the year when Catholics in all parts of the world are asked to contribute to the support of Church communities where it is new,

‘young’ or poor.  Our prayers support them too.

During the past 150 years, thousands of Irish priests, religious sisters and brothers, and lay missionaries have brought the message of Jesus to peoples across the face of the Earth – they included a number from the parish of Emly.

This year 2017, is the centenary of the founding of the Maynooth Mission to China – known as the Columban Fathers and Sisters. To mark this, Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly celebrates Mass on RTE1 at 11.00am this Sunday. He himself was a missionary in West Africa for some years.

First  Holy Communion  2018

The date for First Holy Communion next year is Sunday, 27th May, at 11.00am. The parish based preparation programme – Do This In Memory – will begin in a few weeks from now.

Pastoral Council meeting: Wed 25th Oct., 8pm.

Church Cleaning: Tuesday 24th, 10.15am.

“The Family is a good  that society cannot do without and it ought to be protected.”                  —  Pope Francis, in his document, The Joy of Love.
