A  Major  Meeting

A few days after his visit to Ireland last August,

Pope Francis announced a meeting of the ‘heads of the bishops from every country in the world. Its purpose would be to examine the awful issue of child sexual abuse in the Church, and to decide on ways to prevent it happening and how best to protect children from abuse of any kind.

This meeting will take place at the Vatican this coming week, beginning on Monday. Archbisho Eamon Martin, Armagh, will represent Ireland.

Please pray that the Holy Spirit will give honest wisdom and courage to those attending.

From ‘Listening’  to Report Time

Last May, 42 parishioners participated in the Parish Listening Event, held in the Parish Hall. Since then, all parishes in the diocese have conducted their own Listening events. The contributions of all participants have been brought together and analysed, and are now ready for reporting.

All parishioners  are invited to attend the Listening Report night at Ballykisteen Hotel on Thursday, 21st March, 7.30pm. We will be joined by people from each of the parishes of our Deanery area. Archbisho Kieran O’Reilly will attend. You are urged to come.

Emly  Tidy  Towns  &  Parish

Congratulations to Denis Heffernan who was presented with a Special Recognition accolade at the All-Ireland Community and Council Awards 2019 in Croke Park on last Saturday night.

This is a prestigious award presented by the Local Authorities Members Association (i.e. the county councils of the Republic) in recognition of the out- –standing voluntary contribution – over many years – of some citizen to the life of his/her community.

Denis has enriched the life of Emly in many ways : Tidy Towns, Parish Pastoral Council, School Board of Management, Emly Players, support for the Homeless in Ireland, and a ‘can do/will do’ spirit.

Long may he thrive among us.
