We see these letters (from four French words) on invitation cards asking us to send a reply. In the time of Jesus, two rounds of invitations were issued: firstly, when the event was decided on; secondly, when everything was ready and the time for it was ‘now’. In-between-times, the guests could make arrangements to attend.

 

The parable guests who decline to come are too busy about their work and businesses – too busy

to make time and space for a better option. Thei good interests block out their best interests. We can be so caught up in the affairs of life that we forget the heart of life itself.

 

Mission  Sunday

Next Sunday, 2nd Oct.  Under the slogan : “Reach Out and Spread the Joy.” We are asked to support missionaries in foreign lands, by prayer & donations. Special white envelope in your Offertory Collection box. Please help.

 

Anam Cara

Anam Cara, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, is holding its next monthly Parent Evening on Monday 16th of October from 19:30 to 21:00 in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. This event is open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age at which your child died, the circumstances of their death, or whether the death was recent or not.

Emly G.A.A. Club

3G challenge.  Get up get out get active.  Annual walk, talk and weigh in. A great way to meet up with members of the community in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.   No fuss, just fun.  Thursdays  at 7.30 to 8.30.  €5 join up fee.  €2  per week for 8 weeks in the lead-up to Christmas.  Local fundraiser for Emly senior citizens and the newly established Emly Comhaltas  group..

Emly Historical Society

Open the Good Book  :  Bible Studies

An 8-week course open to all, especially beginners, who would like to discover more about the Bible. (There is no charge or fee). Each participant will receive a course book and a Bible, and is asked to commit to the 8 weeks and to some reading for each session.
