St. Patrick’s College, Thurles.

Statement from the Board of Trustees.

On 22nd July 2016, St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, was formally incorporated into Mary Immaculate College of Education, Limerick.

For most of its time since it opened in 1837, St.Patrick’s College served as a seminary for the preparation of students for the priesthood. Since 2004 it has operated as a College of Education, training secondary school teachers.

The Trustees express sincere gratitude to the priests and people of the the archdiocese of Cashel and Emly for their loyal support for the College since its beginning.

St. Patrick’s College made a significant contribution to Church and society in Ireland, throughout much of the English-speaking world and further afield since its foundation.

The Trustees are happy that St. Patrick’s will continue its service to Catholic education under the direction of Mary Immaculate College. They wish every blessing and success to Mary Immaculate College – St. Patrick’s Campus, Thurles as it embarks on this new phase in its long history of service to education.

Signed: Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly, S.M.A.;

Mgr. Christy O’Dwyer (Trustees).
