The  Feastday  of  God

In a letter to his helper Timothy, St. Paul tries to put words on the nature and mystery of God. 1800 years later, an English poet named W.C. Smith expanded Paul’s words into a beautiful poem and hymn:

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,

In light inaccessible hid from our eyes;

Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,

Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise

Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,

Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;

All praise we would render: O help us to see

‘tis only the splendor of light hideth thee.

A  Lovely  Gift

`Thank you` to Tim Hanley, Illinois, U.S.A. for donating to our parish a beautiful chasuble in memory of his cousin, Mrs. May Hanley, R.I.P.

This vestment displays the Jerusalem Cross – a large cross surrounded by four smaller ones.The  small ones represent the wounds on Jesus’ hand and feet; the larger one the wound at heart-side.

Tim has visited Emly several times in recent  .  .  years and has sung with the choir on Sundays.
