All traffic will be diverted away from the village, 1.30pm – 6.00pm.  Car parks at Carrolls Cross & at Callanans Cross.

 

Roadways, Main Street & church car park to be kept free of all vehicles, 1.30 – 6.00pm. Residents are requested to comply.

Emly GAA 3G Fun Challenge

Emly 3G Fun Challenge in aid of Parish Christmas Party,  ‘GET ACTIVE,  GET FIT,  GIVE BACK’. 10-week weight challenge commencing 26th Sept  at Emly GAA Field .Registration 6.30pm. Teams of four (2 men & two women of your choice). Names by 19th Sept. Contact Mary McGrath, 087-2578992  or Annemarie Durcan 087-3241979. Teams meet tw nights a-week, Mon & Thurs at the field from  6.30p €2 each eve. Weigh-in every week (strictly private) Team weight loss only revealed. Best team – prizes.

Emly Ladies Club

There will be a Mass on Wednesday 14th , 7.30pm in memory of the deceased members of Emly I.C.A., followed by a meeting of  Emly Ladies Club in Byrne’s Tavern.   New members are most welcome.

Junior A Hurlers lost the West Final to Clonoulty-Rossmore;  3-18 to 1-08.  Hurling Wall  Official Oplening on Sunday 25th  Sept.  1:15pm – U 8 & 10 Hurling Matches; 2.00pm – 2:50pm – Hurling Wall Exhibition. 3.pm : Offical Opening.  Competitions, Side Shows. 3.15 Officail Opening of Walkway. . Barbecue & Refreshments served .All are invited.

 

Emly Historical Society

1916 centenary celebrations: a day-trip to Dublin on Sat 1st October. To include visits to:

         Collins Barracks/ National Museum

         Arbour Hill cemetery

         GPO.      Glasnevin Cemetery.

7.30am – 10.00pm. €60. {€20 deposit b4 15 Sept to Ailbe Ryan, Noel McGrath or Jonas Callanan}. Evening meal included.

 

Bus will leave Church car park at 7.30 sharp and expected time of arrival back in Emly is 10.00 pm . Places are limited to 40 and price per head is €60. Price includes a 4 course evening meal on way home in The Heritage Hotel Portlaoise. It’s a very full programme and we will be advising those travelling to bring snack/ drinks for bus. Booking deposit of €20 must be paid to Ailbe Ryan, Noel McGrath, or Jonas Callanan (shop) before Sat 15th Sept.
