The annual tidy town awards were announced in Dublin today. Emly, with 309 marks, was named as Ireland’s tidiest village. Emly also won the overall regional award, the county award and the gold medal. Killarney was named as Ireland’s tidiest town with 310 marks. The adjudicator’s report states:-

‘You have clearly demonstrated how any town or village in Ireland has the potential to be transformed through a combination of vision and hard work. You are still riding high in the contest and at this level the competition is fierce! It becomes progressively harder to win points while maintaining the extraordinarily high standards you have set yourself.  Your success has motivated the community.’
