FÁILTE  WEEK  2010

Fáilte Week 2010 was celebrated as a community event in Emly last week. One of the main focuses of the week was the celebration of the centenary of Emly National School. A large gathering of past pupils gathered in Emly for the centenary dinner/dance and the Mass celebrated in Emly parish church on Sunday 1st August. Emly school was open for visitors who enjoyed examining the old roll books and visiting the classrooms so electronically changed over the years.

The Emly school band took part in many of the events during the week. The repertoire of the newly formed band was greatly enjoyed and admired.


MISS  EMLY 2010

The Miss Emly competition has been part of all Fáilte Weeks. The current Miss Emly selected during the week is Christina Gleeson, Knockcarron.


DEATHS

The deaths have taken place of the following :- Larry Russell, formerly Ballyhone who died in Tipperary.

Mick Frawley, Lisobyhane who died after a long illness.  Mick was very prominent in GAA circles which he served in many positions frm club to national level

Elizabeth Whelan, formerly Galtee View, Emly.  Her funeral will take place in Emly church this Sun evening with Requiem Mass in on Monday morning.
