MANY YOUNG MEN OF TWENTY

Emly Variety Players recently produced the John B Keane play Many Young Men of Twenty. Among the cast members were; Cathal Hayes, Sharon Cunningham, David Hennessy, Paudie Heffernan, Eanna Quish, Norita Kemp, Jonas Callanan, Seamie Cunningham, Mary Heffernan, Julie Hayes, Pam Russell, Denis Heffernan, Seamie Croker, James Lonergan, Áine Byrne, Marguerite Corby, Paddy Ryan. The part of Danger Mullally was played by Cathal Hayes.  When last the play was performed by the Players, in 1989, the part of ‘Danger’ was played by Cathal’s late father Charlie.

 

G. TEAM WINNERS – Lisvernane

Congratulations to our near neighbours Lisvernane who tonight were announced as the winners of the T.na G community Irish competition.  Sixteen communities from all over the country were selected to take part in the competition on the television to discover the place that would do the most to promote the speaking of Irish.  The final was between Donabate in Co. Dublin and Lisvernane who scooped the €40,000 first prize.
