ENTENTE FLORALE
Thursday morning last began an exciting day for Emly when we welcomed eleven international judges from Entente Florale Europe. Emly had the honour of representing Ireland in this prestigious competition and so hosted the judging panel for one day.
Despite a wet start to the day, there was a great turnout of parishioners to greet the visitors who were heartily welcomed on their rounds and indeed sampled the fare at a number of establishments on their rounds.
The day ended with lunch at the Golden Thatch when all involved with the running of the day sat down together with the judges for a very social occasion.
Representatives from Emly will now go to Italy in September for the announcement of the awards.
GOLDEN JUBILEE
Another joyful occasion in Emly this week was the celebration of Fr. Larry Joy’s Golden Jubilee to the Priesthood which was celebrated in Emly Parish Church on this Sunday. Fr. Larry was the chief celebrant of the Mass attended by many family members and parishioners. Refreshments were served afterwards at Byrne’s Tavern.
