Words  Do  Count !

Many politicians and journalists continually talk about “fatal foetal abnormality” to refer to some babies in the womb. The effect of these words is to make such a baby sound less than human. In Medicine, this term is not used. Instead, such a baby is said to have a “life-limiting condition.” Here the emphasis is : the baby is Alive; and its future might be limited – to live for 10 minutes after birth, or 10 months, 10 years or 100 years.
