In response to Mary Hayes inquiry. My family (Otho Heffernan) came from the Borough Rd. He settled in Troy with two sons and two daughters around 1895.I'm sure your family and mine knew each other as they came from the same area of Emly. As your friend Des told you many from Emly settled in Troy. It must have felt like a bit of home with so many of their neighbors settling in Troy.

Hi Lori Payne My family too come from Bartoose. I was adopted and live in England and traced my mother's side. My maternal grandmother's surname was Bourke. Possibly the name change could have been a marriage, thereby creating the double barreled name?

Hello Emly, My family emmigrated to Australia from Emly in 1837. The family consisted of Michael and Mary Gorman and their children Ellen,William,Michael,John,Timothy,Patrick and Mary. Michael`s wife Mary was from Galbally being the daughter of John and Mary Kane.Michael`s parents were William and Honora Gorman also from Emly. Are there any relatives of these people still living in Emly??....My wife and I intend to come for the gathering in 2013 and it would be great to catch up with family if at all possible??`s been 176 years since Michael and family left and I think it`s time for at least one his descendants to return home for a visit.. Thank You.......Brian Gorman
